Brazen Bookworm

Here I’ve shared some of my all time favorite books, a brief description of them, and the reasons I love them so much! As I come across new literature I will post my reviews in hopes of inspiring you to read them too! If you want to read more about why I read and what I like to read check out the first post of this blog 🙂 “Chapter 1”

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher

Synopsis taken from Goodreads:

The novels of the Dresden Files have become synonymous with action-packed urban fantasy and non-stop fun. Storm Front is Jim Butcher’s first novel and introduces his most famous and popular character-Harry Dresden, wizard for hire.

For his first case, Harry is called in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with the blackest of magic. At first, the less-than-solvent Harry’s eyes light up with dollar signs. But where there’s black magic, there’s a black mage. Now, that black mage knows Harry’s name. And things are about to get very…interesting

Spoiler Alert (not really)! I’ve read all 13 books currently published in this series so basically I love them! This book is the perfect mixture of mystery and magic. In the Dresden universe magic is a part of Harry’s daily life but it isn’t for many of the other characters so the reader feels comfortable right away. You learn about the magical world Harry lives in as his companions learn about it. Jim Butcher does an excellent job portraying Harry as a strong wizard with clear moral convictions, while keeping him likable and charming. As the series develops so do the supporting characters and while I have grown to love every character in their own way I always feel connected to Harry because of the time Jim spends showing Harry’s inner struggle and thought process. Not only does this series offer an interesting take on the magical world there are some pretty kick ass fight scenes and pilot twists to keep you engaged. A must read for anyone even remotely interested in mystery, suspense and of course magic.
